exhibition areas

1899

The start of the Second Anglo-Boer War

This area will be set up as a typical South African farm of the period with items displayed relating to the period like cannons that were used during the war. A 1855 Armstrong cannon as well as a short barrelled and Howitzer cannons will be on display for eager eyes and curious minds to witness in all their glory. During a time when nothing was certain and fear ran rife, Boer woman and children were taken from their homes, loaded into wagons and taken to concentration camps, built by the British between 1899 and 1902.

1919

The end of the First World War

The year is 1919 and the world seems to be finding its feet again for the first time in just over four years. Families are finally being reunited and for a lot of people, this was a time where miracles happened and for even more people, this was the time for closure.

Finally, people are able to walk down the streets without the fear of war engines and gunfire rattling in the background. They are able to find a sense of peace. They are able to put their lives back together again. Come join our guides as they take you on a journey through 1919, the end of the Great War, where you will find vehicles and a vast collection of memorabilia from this period.

Please note that there will be a bar from this period as well.

“Experience times of war. Feel the ground tremble. Hear the engines roar.”

1939

THE START OF the Second World War

Take a step back in time to when the only certainty was war. A year when the Union of South Africa joined the majority of the world and declared war on Germany.  This area will also be set up as town streets of the period with the majority of vehicles from this period.

1969

Entertainment Area

This area will be surrounded on three sides by old aeroplanes used in combat and on the fourth side a vintage dining car and stage for live music. We will be hosting music festivals and various shows here, so keep an eye on our website for further information regarding these events.

Our restaurant “Afrikaner” specializes in dry aged steak of Afrikaner cattle. The perfect marbling of this indigenous cattle makes it suitable for 120 days dry aging.

1989

The end of the South African Border War

The area will house some of the mightiest weapons from the war used by both the South African and opposition forces during the border war. This war started way back in 1966 and drew to a close in late March of 1989.

This was a war that, although there were many casualties, led to South West Africa receiving its independence on 21 March 1990 and became known as the Republic of Namibia. It also paved the way for peaceful negotiations that led to the Government of National Unity in 1994.
